What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the most common component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is an effective form of medical treatment that has been practiced for thousands of years. It promotes natural healing and encourages one's body to restore its natural balance. Acupuncture is a safe, painless form of treatment that addresses a wide variety of medical conditions.

How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles at specific points on the body. TCM explains acupuncture as a technique to restore the balance and flow of energy or life force known as qi. (Qi is energy that flows through meridians or pathways throughout the body.) If there is a blockage, obstruction or imbalance of qi within one or more of the body's meridians, pain or illness may arise. Qi can be influenced through hundreds of different acupuncture points along these meridians, and when needles are inserted into appropriate points, energy flow can be restored, pain can be alleviated and illness can be treated.

Acupuncture for Back Pain

Three years ago I came to East Meets West after many visits to the Chiropractor for treatment for Sciatica and lower back pain from an injury from work. There were many mornings where I scaled the wall just to become vertical. A friend of mine suggested acupuncture so I booked my first appointment. I felt immediate results and after five treatments I was absolutely pain free. In fact it was so good that I never returned for two years. I am an avid golfer and I know without the help of Dr. Tobie Spitzer I wouldn’t be golfing today. The staff are courteous and it is always very relaxing.

Acupuncture for Fertility

I first started getting acupuncture treatments from Dr. Hantke after my husband and I tried for a year and a half to get pregnant. I was also beginning medical fertility treatments at the same time and during this difficult and stressful time for us, Dr. Hantke always did everything he could to try and help us achieve our goal of becoming parents.  Now that we are expecting our baby boy very soon, all I can say is thank you so much to Dr. Hantke for helping keep me positive, relaxed, and my sights on the best thing yet to come!

Acupuncture for Pain from Neck Injury

After several months of chiropractor treatments and massages for neck and shoulder pain due to a whiplash injury and still not feeling back to normal, I thought I would give acupuncture a try. The day of my first treatment with Dr. Spitzer I was having trouble even turning my head from side to side, but as soon as the treatment was done I couldn’t feel any pain at all! I continued treatment over the next few weeks, and no longer have any neck pain at all, and I haven’t had a single headache since I started acupuncture. I have been recommending acupuncture to anyone I know complaining of any aches or pains, it really does work wonders!
